Under the philosophy of free culture and DIY (do it yourself) and DIWO (do it with others) community networks, this workshop is a space to share knowledge to solve some problems derived from planned obsolescence that affect laptops.
Planned obsolescence is a political strategy of technocapitalism that consists of intentionally creating failures in electronic devices in the short to medium term so that they become obsolete, thus forcing the purchase of a new device without considering the ecological, economic, and social impact, perpetuating the exploitation and colonial extractivism of bodies and lands for the benefit of companies and magnates.
In this workshop, we will learn to detect failures and change some components of laptops that after about 5 or 7 years begin to operate slowly, in order to extend the life of our PCs in a simple way. We will create a space to experiment, empower ourselves, learn together, and lose the fear of opening our equipment.
